Full time, permanent.

Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.

We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the City.

Redbridge Youth Justice and Targeted Prevention Service (YJTPS) is a multi-agency partnership committed to preventing and reducing youth crime across the borough.  We are looking for a committed, innovative, and enthusiastic Restorative Justice Officer who will play a critical role in supporting the service in facilitating Restorative Justice and victim work.  We believe that restorative practices can repair or rebuild relationships in a respectful and empowering way, in the justice system, in schools, in workplaces and in our communities. The post holder will be required to work with victims of all ages who have been harmed by children referred to our service.

You will be key to the delivery of Restorative Justice interventions. This will include working in a multi-agency service with both the children within the service and those harmed by criminal activity to explore restorative outcomes and support the facilitation of these in accordance with the Code of Practice for Victims of Crime.   Working collaboratively with colleagues within the YJTPS, you will have a thorough understanding of risk, needs, public protection and safety and wellbeing.

You will need excellent communication skills, an ability to work independently and a commitment to empowering children, their families and individuals and communities affected by crime. The nature of the role means that flexible hours are needed including evening and weekend work to meet the needs of the victims of crime we work with, focusing on building positive professional working relationships to help facilitate and maintain change.

We support our workers in their progression, affording opportunities to grow skill sets. Staff have regular supervision with their line manager and frequent professional development sessions.

If you are interested in being part of a team delivering excellent services to victims and children and families in Redbridge, please apply.

Interviews will be held week commencing 3rd June 2024

Redbridge is committed to making safer recruitment decisions and to preventing unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children.   As such some posts may be subject to a check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.  References may also be taken up prior to interview.

Embracing diversity and promoting equalities for all.

To apply for this post, you must submit an online application form along with uploading a copy of your CV and cover letter.
