An exciting opportunity has arisen for one Commissioning and Contracts Officer to join our dedicated and dynamic Children’s Placement Team.

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

The Team plays a critical role with Children’s Social Services Department and makes a positive contribution to the lives of vulnerable children living in and out of the borough. The team is responsible for the sourcing and commissioning of placements and accommodation for children and young people. The role involves working closely with social workers across the Locality, Looked After Children and Permanency Teams, and the external providers and supported accommodation markets.

The Person

This is a demanding role, offering variety and an opportunity to learn new skills and develop your knowledge. The successful post holder will be someone who can communicate and negotiate effectively both verbally and in writing to achieve the best outcomes for borough’s children and secure best value for the Council. You will bring positive energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and passion to the role, with a clear focus on achieving positive outcomes for the children and young people we care for.
