Grade 12 - Senior Communications Officer, Streets and Environment

We’re looking for an experienced communications professional to join our corporate team, to support the streets and environment portfolio in London’s largest borough. From making our streets clean and safe, to keeping the roads moving, this directorate provides a huge range of essential services our residents rely on every day. Its busy, its high-profile and no two days are the same.

Reporting to the external communications manager, you’ll work closely with our colleagues in the service, leading on planning and delivering communications that support the delivery of the Mayor’s Business Plan 2022-26 and our corporate priorities. You’ll have excellent written communication skills, be confident creating content for a range of channels, from socials to print, and experienced in handling media relations. We’re looking for someone who is experienced in planning comms for projects and campaigns, and ready to work with our communities on topics from tackling littering to boosting recycling. With 390,800 residents, our communities are diverse. You’ll need to be able to tailor your comms to reach everyone and be ready to suggest new ways to make an impact.

Internally, you’ll be working with colleagues at all levels of the organisation, from our officers on the frontline to senior leaders and politicians. In addition, you’ll build and maintain strong links with a wide range of our partners, from our fantastic street champions and friends of parks, to residents, businesses, contractors and other London boroughs.
