The Post

This is a fantastic opportunity for an extremely motivated and proficient investigator to join a high-performing service. The Council’s Investigations team is highly visible and well-respected, and supports the Council's strategic direction through the delivery of robust anti-fraud services.

This is a high profile and varied role in which you will be leading on investigations and risk-based proactive work, and interact closely with colleagues across the Council to improve the governance and control environment. You will have the opportunity to broaden your understanding of the risks affecting the Council and the freedom to make a tangible difference in protecting vital public funds from fraud and error.

The successful candidate will be driven, motivated and will work on their own initiative to proactively assist in the development, implementation and delivery of the Council’s Counter Fraud Plan and related service strategies.

The post-holder will possess demonstrable skills and experience to manage a portfolio of reactive and proactive counter fraud work to a high standard.
 

The Person

As a member of our team, you will be a self-motivated, highly skilled team player with excellent verbal and written skills, the ability to liaise effectively across the Council and with external agencies, and a commitment to protecting the public purse.

The ideal candidate will effectively use their transferable skills, experience, and knowledge from similarly complex environments to enhance the team in achieving its objectives. This includes managing a varied caseload, conflicting priorities and stakeholder engagement to an exemplary standard and minimal supervision. 

An accredited investigation qualification or equivalent will be required, and the successful candidate will also demonstrate an appetite and commitment to continued professional development within an investigation capacity.
