Programme Manager Schools & Education Construction Projects
Our Greenwich plan has set a mission that our children and young people can reach their full potential, our developments deliver positive change to an area, and our neighbourhoods are vibrant, safe, and attractive with community services that meet the needs of the borough.
One of the pivotal roles in achieving this is the council's programme of schools and education related construction and maintenance projects. This programme aims to create fantastic buildings for our young people. To meet this ambition, we need an experienced Programme Manager to ensure our capital programme is delivered on time, to budget and to the right quality.
The Role:
We will look to you to provide leadership, management of a team of Project Managers and excellent stakeholder engagement to deliver a range of projects making up the capital programme. You will be accountable for programme delivery and need to provide strategic direction, advice, governance oversight and risk management to ensure robust programme delivery.
Key aspects of the job are:
- To strategically lead, develop, procure, and manage multiple contractors and external consultants to ensure the successful development and delivery of the capital programme.
- Lead, develop and support a team of client-side Project Managers.
- Responsible for the financial management of the Schools Basic Need and Condition Maintenance grant funding in line with statutory guidance.
About You:
Highly motivated, strategic, and proactive, you'll be ready for the excitement and challenges of working with a complex, high-value, high-profile estate. We are looking for someone with experience in programme management, construction project delivery and public sector procurement and governance. The ability to engage, advise, inform, and support senior management, council staff, contractors, consultants, and service users is key to achieving success, so excellent strategic awareness, organisation skills, communication and collaboration are a must.
In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme, local government terms of employment and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
