The role
The Lead Product Manager is a hands-on role that will build and develop a community of practice in Product Management. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team and reporting to the Head of Digital Products and Services, this is a senior management role. The role of the Lead Product Manager is responsible for the quality and effectiveness of products developed and iterated upon by our teams. In this role, you will be expected to use your knowledge of user needs and understanding of goals to frame problems, set priorities to build great products and services, and manage others to do the same.
You will be working with people across the council to explain the benefits of product management and to help them build their digital plans. You will work closely with stakeholders across the council alongside your fellow products and services teams in user research, design, and development to design new and improve existing products and services. You will have a relentless focus on how well-informed user needs inform great products and meaningful outcomes and will inspire others to do the same.
You will work with other teams within the Digital and Data Service to identify key priorities and expertise required to deliver a portfolio of work.
You will undertake all duties with due regard to the provisions of health and safety regulations and legislation, Data Protection/GDPR, the Council’s Equal Opportunities and Customer Care policies.
About You
You need to display a deep passion for product management with a proven track record of adapting to new environments rapidly. Working directly with collaborators and teams to set product visions and priorities, you will have experience in researching, prototyping, launching and scaling a product from inception to live.
You will use product management principles and approaches to define what is built meets user, service and organisation needs.
You can demonstrate an advanced working understanding of research, design, technology and data principles. You understand the variety and complexity of users’ digital needs and how products and services will meet those needs. You know how to identify and implement assisted digital support and can explain why it’s important. You can design services and make decisions to meet user's needs.
You know how to give direction on which tools or methods to use. You are experienced in meeting the needs of users across a variety of channels. You can bring insight and expertise in how user needs have changed over time to ensure these are met. You know how to apply strategic thinking in how to provide the best service for the end user.
You will advocate for the user and work with the team to ensure what we build achieves the desired outcomes.
You will be:
- Crafting and nurturing dialogue and engaging relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Prioritising roadmaps by business value and risk.
- Enabling the delivery team to interpret research outcomes into actionable insights.
- Applying understanding and experience of agile methodology
