Performance Analyst

This role will support that agenda. You will have the opportunity to bring your current skills to make a significant impact on our current offer, but you will also have the opportunity to learn and use modern technology to deliver cutting edge data and analysis products.   

 

We are seeking a Performance Analyst to work within the Data & Intelligence Team with remit that covers HR data, Corporate Performance, and statutory returns. The candidate can use a range of sources and analytical techniques to produce high-quality analysis and reporting, including recommendations for action and improvement, plan and deliver Data & Intelligence projects which generate new insights to drive operational decision-making and service improvement, and support the development and embedding of insight and intelligence culture throughout the council. The candidate will support the development of self-service reporting using R and Power BI.

 

Some of the key tasks for this role will be:

  • Prepare and analyse data to produce intelligence and insights about council workforce, services and the borough.
  • Design and develop visual reports and dashboards to provide actionable intelligence for managers and decision-makers.
  • Identify and assess problems with the quality of data that is used for and presented in data reporting and take action to address issues identified.
  • Contribute to (and lead where appropriate) the completion and submission of statutory reporting requirements, including returns required by government departments and regulators.
  • Support regulatory processes, e.g. Ofsted Inspections.
  • Deliver an innovative portfolio of data reporting and analysis to enable better management oversight and identify areas of need.
  • Develop a self-serve model for access to data reporting and analysis products.

 

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Demonstrable skills in Excel, SQL, and R.
  • Experience in producing data reporting and analysis with tools such as Power BI.
  • Experience of the statutory data requirements of a Local Authority.
  • Experience of using HR data.
  • Knowledge of database administration (advantageous).
  • Data visualisation and data story telling skills.
  • Experience or knowledge of statistical analysis.

  • The ability to analyse and interpret complex data sets and present them effectively to various audiences to inform decision-making and prioritisation.
  • The ability to work sensitively, empathetically, and collaboratively across a wide range of stakeholders to achieve the desired outcomes.
