Salary: Grade 8 to 9; (£37,433 - £40,833). The career grade is dependent on experience/qualification.

Croydon is a dynamic and popular borough, with significant develop plans and good transport links, which is an area of high housing demand. We have a high percentage of privately rented properties, many of which are not adequately maintained.
We are determined to improve the private rented sector in Croydon, to reduce anti-social behaviour, improve property management and improve housing conditions. It is a diverse sector being the home of a wide range of residents, many vulnerable. As Croydon has over 40,000 privately rented properties, with a high number containing a significant hazards, we need a team of enthusiastic and self-motivated officers to help deliver our highly ambitious aims.
We now have vacancies for housing enforcement officers to work alongside colleagues in the Private Sector Housing team.
Have you the skills, experience and enthusiasm to meet the challenge presented to improve housing conditions for the people of Croydon? Can you bring experience of enforcement work, working in partnership with landlords and tenants, knowledge of building construction and dealing with challenging situations? If you are self-motivated and enthusiastic, with a keen desire to make a difference, you’re just who we need to join our team of dedicated professional officers.
We are looking for people who know about housing disrepair and remedial works through training or experience, and who have an understanding of the housing health and safety rating system and other relevant legislation used in housing enforcement. Whilst practical experience of enforcement is desirable, full training will be given to officers, especially those that are new into the area of work and demonstrate an enthusiasm to learn.
You will be able to manage your own case load, be enforcement minded and demonstrate excellent customer care skills as you will be dealing with members of the public on a daily basis. As well as practical field work, the role includes data inputting and preparation of letters and notices so IT skills will be an advantage.
