The Role

A new exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed person to work within our Governance Team. This post is initially for a fixed term of 12 months, with the possibility to be extended.

You will be directly responsible for the provision of governance support services and clerking to a specified number of multi-academy trusts, school governing boards, and other commercial contracts.

This will include providing administrative support for meetings including agenda preparation, attending Governing Board meetings (virtual and physical) and taking minutes, delivering and advising on the role of the company secretary, supporting panel hearings including pupil exclusions and staffing appeals, conducting governor elections, and providing advice and guidance in line with the client’s legal status to meet their individual needs whilst ensuring their legal compliance.

Your valued work will contribute to the team’s already excellent reputation, by meeting our expected very high standards and the company’s and service’s performance indicators.

The successful candidate will have good working knowledge of schools and academy governance arrangements and statutory compliance arrangements, experience of working as part of a team in a busy client-focussed service, experience of being responsible for a range of office routines, including confidence in using IT to support their work, and be highly organised with the ability to prioritise and manage a busy and varied workload. Candidates must also understand the importance of working with a good eye for detail, an organised methodical approach and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Your Profile

  • Previous knowledge of schools and academy governance arrangements
  • Experience of working in a service that supports statutory compliance
  • A good standard of English and numeracy
