SEN Teaching Assistant (support 1:1 with a named child)
Hours: 32.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year, 8.45am to 3.45pm Monday to Friday
Grade: Scale 3, Point 5-6
Pro-rata salary: £20,919 p.a - £21,235 p.a (FTE £27,030 p.a - £27,438 p.a)
Contract: Temporary for 2 terms in the first instance, with a possibility of the contract being extended

Whybridge Junior School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and talented Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and vibrant school. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be prepared to work in a challenging but enjoyable work environment and will be joining a supportive team committed to inclusion.
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the learning of an individual pupil with SEMH needs within the classroom environment. In addition, this role would involve providing additional intervention outside of the classroom under the direction of the class teacher.
Experience of working with children with SEND and delivering intervention is desirable.
The successful candidate will:
- be a proactive, positive role model for pupils
- ideally have some experience of working one to one with children
- be committed, flexible and reliable
- work well in a team with a consistent positive attitude
- work under the direction of the class teacher, whilst also showing initiative to tailor learning experiences to the needs of the child
- be passionate about working with children with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities
- show empathy and communicate effectively with pupil, parents and staff.
The ideal candidate would have:
- Experience in supporting pupils with SEND
- Good sense of humour
- Ability to create and maintain relationships
- Patience and resilience
