PACT is one of the UK’s leading voluntary adoption agencies, rated Outstanding by Ofsted, and has been at the forefront of adoption services for over 60 years.  We know that many of the challenges encountered by adoptive families can stem from their adoptive children’s adverse early life experiences and because of these, adopted children can often have difficulties in trusting adults and forming healthy relationships within their new forever families.  This is when our adoption support services can help to make a positive difference for everyone.

We are looking to expand our support services for adoptive families and are seeking a contractor to work as a Children and Families Group Worker on ad-hoc contract basis during school holidays.

We currently offer drama, musical movement, craft, singing, cooking, story and percussion sessions for families with children aged 2 – 10 years old adopted through PACT, and we are looking for someone who can help us to build on these existing activities.

The purpose of these activities is to offer therapeutically informed sessions that inspire and help parents learn how to engage their child and be proactive in therapeutic parenting.  They also provide the chance for the children to have fun together, connect positively with other adoptive children, and gain confidence within a safe and welcoming environment.

We are looking for someone with a passion for supporting adoptive children and families.   You should have experience in using creative ways of running group activity events for families, and experience of adoption in a personal or professional capacity.

You should be organised and proficient at working to deadlines and have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and communicate effectively.  It is also essential that you are based in London and can transport your own materials and equipment to venues in Central London.

You will be responsible for planning sessions for families with children in two age groups (between 2 - 10 years).  All sessions will take place during school holidays.  Ideally, you will be able to commit to up to one afternoon per school holiday (two afternoons in different weeks during August).  Each afternoon would consist of two one-hour sessions for the different age groups.

For further details on becoming a contractor for PACT, or for details on how to apply, please visit Contractors | Adoption Agency | PACT Charity | PACT.  For details on rates of pay, please email PACT_HR@pactcharity.org.  Please note that as a contractor you will need to hold your own professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

Closing date:                Monday, 19th February 2024 at 5pm

Interview date:            Wednesday, 28th February 2024

If you would like to arrange an informal discussion about the role, please contact Megan Ravenhill, Adopter Champion Team Leader, on megan.ravenhill@pactcharity.org.

We look forward to hearing from you!
