The role

Are you passionate about safeguarding consumer rights, ensuring fair housing practices, and making a real impact in the community? 

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to play a pivotal role in our Trading Standards and Consumer Protection team. As a Trading Standards Officer in Housing, you will be at the forefront of enforcing regulations and delivering justice within the Private Sector Housing sector.

You will be a driving force in the effective investigation and resolution of complex cases, with a strong focus on housing and tenancy-related issues. Your work will directly impact the community by ensuring that unfair and fraudulent practices are effectively addressed.

You should have a diploma in Trading Standards or Diploma in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards or equivalent DPCP/Board of Trade. You should be confident in trading standards and/or consumer protection work. 

You will have experience of managing and investigating complex casework. As well as significant experience of taking enforcement action for failure to comply with requirements of appropriate legislation and statutory notices.  You should have full working knowledge of IPA including disclosure, CPIA, Regulator’s Code, PACE and Trading Standards legislative powers.
