The London Borough of Redbridge is a fantastic and busy place to work. And within the Authority, there’s none more so than the Capital Delivery Service, who are at the forefront of much of the Authority’s built asset delivery.

The Capital Delivery Service are a key service area who work on built scheme development and delivery across a range of areas, including Housing, Education, Leisure, Culture and Regeneration. We deliver much needed new affordable housing, schools and teaching facilities, leisure facilities and public spaces.

It’s an exciting time for the Capital Delivery Service with a scheme portfolio full of exciting and interesting projects, and with more pipeline schemes to follow.

This is why we are now recruiting for permanent Senior Project Managers to join our busy and expanding Capital Delivery Service team.

Reporting directly to the Head of Capital, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for and lead the delivery of a range of projects within the Council’s programmes, across Housing, Education, Leisure, Culture and Regeneration. Scheme values are typically ranging between £5m - £85m.

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for managing the work of assigned consultants, professional teams and contractors. The Senior Project Manager will also be responsible for assigned junior colleagues, such as a Project Manager.

The Senior Project Manager will also be expected to engage as required with Members and Senior Officers in all departments across the Council; regulatory and professional bodies; tenants/leaseholders; and voluntary and community groups, and members of the public.

The Senior Project Manager will be expected to lead their assigned schemes through all stages of a project’s development and delivery, and must have strong experience and skills in areas such as Programme management, Health & Safety, Design Development, Cost Development and Management, Planning, Building Control and Sustainability.

We are looking for dynamic individuals, who can work both as a team player and independently, who have new build and refurbishment experience, who have at least 10 years’ experience in the industry, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience having worked for a local Authority in a similar project delivery role.

Demonstrable higher education is desirable, such as a Degree and/or Chartered Status i.e. MCIOB/MRICS are preferable, but not essential.

Interviews are expected to take place in January 2024 and dates will be confirmed to all successful applicants.

All short-listed applicants will need to demonstrate proof of right to work in the UK. At the London Borough of Redbridge, we receive a high volume of great-quality applicants, we therefore may close a vacancy earlier than advertised. Early applications are therefore encouraged.

We are committed to employment practices that promote diversity and inclusion in employment and welcome applications from qualified applicants regardless of age, disability, gender identity, sex, marriage and civil partnership status, pregnancy and maternity status, colour, race, religion, or belief.
