Mental Health Operations Manager
Job introduction
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time 12 month fixed term/secondment Operations Manager in Adult Mental Health Services.
The vacancy is open to external applicants as a fixed term contract and is open to internal applicants as a secondment in line with BHCC Secondment Policy.
We are looking for candidates with strong social work values, strong leadership and organisational skills and experience of managing a high performing team, with the ability to support staff through change whilst keeping good outcomes for people with care and support needs, and their carers at the centre of your practice.
The post holder will closely with operational management teams of both Brighton and Hove City Council and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust as part of our s75 agreement.

About the role
As an Operations Manager, you will manage a number of staff that have been co-located into Mental Health Services as part of our s75 agreement. You will oversee statutory duties whilst working in partnership with our health colleagues to deliver a seamless health and social care offer for those under the care of secondary mental health services. The post holder will also work closely with other Operations Managers within Adult Social Care.
The overall effective and efficient management of staff in the team includes:
- Selection, recruitment, induction and attendance management
- Assignment of work, allocation of resources and overall deployment of staff
- Appraising performance with the aid of staff development reviews and acting in accordance with this to arrange training or other necessary action.

There will be other duties and requirements associated with your job and, in addition, as a term of your employment you may be required to undertake various other duties as may reasonably be required.
We are looking for someone who has high professional standards and an excellent knowledge of current legislation such as the Care Act, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act is essential.
Warranted Approved Mental health Act Professionals (AMHPs) will be encouraged to take part in the rota arrangements for the AMHP provision across the city.
You will receive regular supervision and support and have opportunities for ongoing development and specialist training.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
