Grade: APTC Scale 2, Point 3/4 depending on experience
Actual Pro rata salary: £17,908 p.a. - £18,204 p.a. depending on experience

Scargill Junior School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and talented TA to join our friendly and vibrant school. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work 5 days a week from 8.15am – 3.15pm with a 45 minute lunch break.
Your role will be to will carry out the role of supporting teaching and learning within the classroom. The position will also include setting up and resourcing the work for individual SEN children/small groups.
There will also be a requirement to support and run a school-wide SEN intervention programme. We welcome applications from candidates with suitable experience.
Candidates must:
- Be positive and confident in using your knowledge of current theory and practice in teaching and learning
- Be ready to utilise the benefits of a curriculum that is innovative and flexible in terms of delivery and content
- Be able to share best practice, be flexible and compassionate
- Develop positive relationships with pupils and able to use a variety of strategies to meet individual needs.
- Have experience and knowledge of working with children who present a range of behavioural and/or SEND needs.
- Be enthusiastic, confident and able to use their initiative
- Be patient, empathetic and resilient
- Play a full part in the life of the school and is committed to working in partnership with staff and parents.
Main Responsibilities
- Supporting & Delivering Learning – work with individuals or small groups of pupils under the direct supervision of teaching staff and provide feedback to the teacher.
- Behaviour/Guidance/Support – support pupils to understand instructions, support independent learning and inclusion of all pupils.
- Curriculum Resource Support – under the direction/instruction of teaching/senior staff to provide general support to staff and pupils, including preparation, and routine maintenance and creation of resources/equipment.
- Organisation – Recording progress information for individuals or groups against SEN targets or specific learning goals.
Specific Tasks
- Preparation/routine maintenance or creation of materials/equipment for special needs children/groups.
- Support/supervision of pupils in lessons.
- Recording of evidence of progress toward SEN targets or IEP targets.
- Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required.
Knowledge/Education
- Experience of working with children with high needs autism and challenging behaviours.
- Working at or towards National Occupational Standards on Supporting Teaching and Learning reflected in the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning on the Qualification and Credit Framework, or equivalent experience.
- Good numeracy/literacy skills and clear spoken English.
- First Aid Training (Desirable)
- Knowledge of any of the following is desirable: PECS, ELSA, ATTENTION AUTISM, AUTISIM BUCKET and TACPAC.
