Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator (SENCO) and class teacher
Reporting to: Headteacher/Deputy Headteacher
Responsible for: SEND HLTA and the inclusion team
Required for January 2024.
Sheringham Nursery School leads the Manor Park Community Children’s Centre and is a National Research School and Stronger Practice Hub.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational and highly motivated SENDCo and class teacher to join our talented team to work closely together to maintain high expectations for all as we continue to champion Inclusion across our setting.
You will have experience of teaching playfully, making learning fun and enticing with regard to the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, the interests of individual children and their learning and developmental needs. This role is ideally suited to an experienced SENDCo looking for a new challenge in a supportive Maintained Nursery School. However, as our SEND provision is well developed and organised this position may also suit an excellent, ambitious teacher wishing to further their leadership skills and experience, make a difference and be willing to commit to completing the NaSENCo qualification at the earliest opportunity with the support of the school.

Main purpose
The SENCO, under the direction of the headteacher, will:
- Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school
- Be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability
- Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
- The SENCO will be expected to fulfill the responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the STPCD
Applicants must have QTS status and experience of working with children with SEND
