Would you like to be part of a thriving community school, helping to build and develop the school’s relationships across our family networks? Do you have strong interpersonal skills, combined with good administrative abilities? We have a unique opportunity for someone who either already works in a school, but would like to develop their skills, or, potentially, someone who has an administrative background or experience and would like to work in a school setting.

We are looking to recruit a family liaison assistant who will chiefly work with the school office as part of the admin team, but will also provide pastoral support to identified children within the school.  A key responsibility within this role will be working with the local authority attendance team and targeted families to monitor, support and improve attendance.  This is an exciting and new position, which will provide a real insight into how the school develops and nurtures relations with a wide range of stakeholders. 

In addition, the successful candidate will:

  • promote and safeguard the welfare of children
  • be highly organised, proactive, flexible and adaptable
  • be reliable, resourceful and responsible
  • have the initiative to self-manage and prioritise workloads effectively
  • assess the needs of the pupils and use specialist (curricular/learning) skills/training/experience to support pupils 
  • assist with the development and implementation of Individual Learning Plans 
  • liaise sensitively and effectively with parents/carers as agreed with the teacher within your role/responsibility and participate in feedback sessions/meetings with parents with, or as directed

The working hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (35 hours per week with a one-hour lunch break (39 weeks per year). You will be based in the school office at the start and end of the school day when the office is busiest.

The position is on Scale 4 (currently £27,507-£28,419 pro rata = c. £1950 per month, in real terms).
