Role Purpose

The Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service (THAMES) is expanding its provision and is seeking to appoint experienced Instrumental and Vocal Tutors for the THAMES Panel of Teachers.

We are looking for tutors for the following instruments: cello; woodwind; recorder; percussion; djembe; singing; piano; primary curriculum music

We are especially interested in appointing highly talented and enthusiastic tutors who are excited by the possibility of being part of an Award-winning Music Hub. THAMES is the lead organisation in the Tower Hamlets Music Education Hub which also includes the City of London. 

Key Responsibilities

Your key task will be to teach music to pupils in individual/small group lessons, and/or whole classes, in line with THAMES policies and the Service Level Agreement (SLA) to schools in Tower Hamlets. 

Requirements

Candidates should have:

a) Successful instrumental/vocal/curriculum teaching experience in a music service or school, delivering small group, whole class, or classroom curriculum music lessons

b) Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development

c) Evidence of significant practical music-making at a high-level of performance

The postholder will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check on appointment and then every three years thereafter. 

Additional Information

Being placed on the Panel of Music Tutors is not a guarantee of work but ensures that THAMES can select tutors for teaching who are set-up by Human Resources and Payroll and cleared to teach. Posts are part time, term time only and in various schools in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

£24.70 to £34.03 Per Hour (dependant on qualifications and experience)


Offer A (Standard Rate) – individual or small group instrumental/vocal teaching, or supporting whole class teaching

Offer B (Upper Rate) – leading half or whole class instrumental/vocal/curriculum music teaching
