The Post

Brent Music Service seeking to recruit a full-time instrument manager/technician. This is an exciting opportunity to join a talented team of music educators to support the delivery of high-quality music education throughout Brent. 

Providing specialist music support to schools in the county, Brent Music Service is a non-profit organisation which places quality and accessibility at the forefront of its delivery. Our work includes instrumental and curriculum music teaching and extends to workshop and ensemble delivery, CPD opportunities for teachers, and numerous events and performances. The service works closely with the Arts Council to ensure our provision is inclusive and of the highest quality. 

The role of instrument manager/technician is key to the day to day running of the Service and includes managing and maintaining our library of instruments, our music library, delivering instruments to and collecting them from our partner schools, concert management (including set-up and take down), managing our large inventory and stocktaking. Knowledge of basic instrument repairs/servicing would be an advantage though not essential. 

Although predominantly based at our offices in at Claremont High School, the successful candidate will be required to work flexibly and often at a range of locations throughout the borough. A full, clean driving licence is essential to this role as it will involve driving a large Transit-type van. 

The Person

The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who is flexible and well organised. It is vital this person is comfortable working as part of a team and is able to build strong, working relationships quickly. The role involves some weekend working and so flexibility is required. 

The successful person will be highly organised with the ability to meet tight deadlines, ,efficient, possess good computer skills, (especially with spreadsheets) in order to maintain an update our inventory. They will be able to work with a high level of attention to detail and have good interpersonal and communication skills. 

Experience working with external stakeholders to negotiate contracts and a basic knowledge of musical instruments and their repair would be an advantage as would experience of working in an education environment. 

There is no specific set of qualifications for this role, but a strong level of computer literacy would be an advantage. Training in instrument repair and servicing is not essential and training may be given to a suitable candidate.

A full clean driving licence is essential to this role.
