Head of Engagement and Partnerships
Head of Engagement and Partnerships PO10
Waltham Forest became the Mayor of London’s first-ever London Borough of Culture in 2019. It is home to an abundance of culture, creativity, and enterprise – including the award-winning William Morris Gallery, Vestry House Museum, Fellowship Square and the internationally recognised nature reserve, Walthamstow Wetlands, along with a wide range of ambitious arts, events, and experiences throughout the borough.
As a Destination borough, our ambition is for Waltham Forest to be recognised as the best place to live, work, study, visit and invest in London. Our cultural offer is world class, generating and creating tangible social and economic impact for our local neighbourhoods. We ensure we achieve all of this in a sustainable way by maximising our commercial opportunities and responding effectively to the climate emergency.
We continue to aim high and ensure that Waltham Forest continues to grow as a Destination borough, engaging residents, enabling creativity, celebrating our individuality, and utilising our resources to ensure viability, impact, and legacy - a place where diversity flourishes. We are working with local creative enterprises to curate an exciting and engaging cultural offer and destinations programme, building on our rich heritage from across the borough to bring together our residents, communities, and visitors to share and participate in an array of experiences.
We are currently looking for skilled and passionate individuals to join us to establish Waltham Forest as a platform for local enterprise and a thriving destination for local people and visitors, celebrating local communities, creativity, and diversity.
As Head of Engagement and Partnerships you will develop a three-year plan to build and sustain effective partnerships and engagement to deliver the Destinations business plan. You will lead on early engagement activities, building relationships in new neighbourhoods across Waltham Forest, targeted for growth. A key part of this will be to undertake market research analysis, create plans to increase the effectiveness of stakeholder relationships and research partners, identify key players and generate interest in co-development of the cultural assets across Waltham Forest working with local engagement leads and networks. You will also forecast, measure and report the results of partnership, programmes and events
We’re looking for experience of developing and delivering productive and dynamic partnerships, working with local and diverse groups, providers, suppliers and operators. An ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including residents and communities, business, members and senior officers across the council is essential, as is an entrepreneurial and innovative approach to ensure an inclusive cultural offer, which is both financial and environmental sustainability. If you wish to have an informal discussion please contact james.leay@walthamforest.gov.uk.
