The post is for a Deputy Team Manager in the Placements Team within Corporate parenting and will be responsible for commissioning placements.  This will include working in compliance with statutory social work regulations and standards. The team caters to commissioning of all types of alternative homes for Children and young people 0-25 years. You will have management responsibility of social workers and non-social worker staff within the team.

The deputy team managers role requires managing uncertainty, developing mutually trusting and respectful relationships with service users and providers, making fine judgements about risk and daring to work creatively and innovatively.  Using their skills in communication and empowerment, the deputy team manager will deliver a service that protects and safeguards children, young people, their families and carers, supporting them to assess their own needs and capacity, promote their independence, and manage risk and uncertainty.

Creative and innovative problem solving of complex issues, often in situations where there is ambiguity. Think and act strategically in decision making in a complex professional and political environment.

The role will require flexibility and attention to detail with understanding of commercial reaction to every action we undertake within the  Market.

Candidate is expected to have some level of understanding on supervisory skills/ experience and demonstrable skills around multitasking. Previous experience in placement/commissioning/brokerage team is desirable.
