These are exciting times for Richmond and Wandsworth Councils. Following the local elections in May 2022 and the arrival of our new Chief Executive in October, we’ve got a renewed focus on ensuring we’re the best organisation we can be, and perfectly placed to recruit and retain the best staff to deliver the highest possible standards of service to our residents. We are embarking on a wide-ranging programme of work to transform our organisation, including our ‘Great Employer’ workstream that will ensure we’re recognised as an employer of choice. You will use your knowledge and experience of OD best practice and your excellent project management skills to identify areas for improvement and to design, deliver and evaluate OD initiatives to improve staff experience of working for Richmond and Wandsworth Councils and our organisational performance.
You will be highly skilled at collecting and analysing data and using this to make informed recommendations for improvements. You will have excellent organisational skills and digital skills and will have the ability to build relationships across the organisation at all levels.
Current areas of focus include:
- Supporting staff to understand the purpose of the Councils, particularly in the context of our ‘Shared Staffing Arrangement’ whereby staff serve both Richmond and Wandsworth Councils

- Ensuring effective two-way engagement with staff that leads to genuine change and improvements
- Reviewing our on-boarding and induction approach to ensure new staff quickly feel welcome and integrated in to the organisation
Through this work you will help ensure we are recognised as an exemplar employer.
In return, you will get the opportunity to develop your skills and experience in this exciting field. You will work in a friendly, supportive and professional team and will have opportunities to develop your own skills and experiences. We are very open to flexible working and welcome applications from individuals who may wish to work eg part-time or compressed hours. You will be formally based at Wandsworth Town Hall but you will have flexibility for extensive homeworking if you wish. You will also receive a generous holiday allowance of 32 days plus bank holidays.
