Redbridge is a progressive London authority embracing innovation and change.  With a small yet proactive Trading Standards team we deliver priorities supporting vulnerable residents and regulating rogue traders.  We champion partnership working with neighbouring authorities, Police, private sector and others.

Based in Ilford’s diverse town centre, we support a hybrid working model including working from home, mobile and off-site working to deliver our outcomes. The right candidates will help us to do this by bringing their knowledge and skills from either another consumer protection environment or other enforcement/regulatory environment agency.

This is an active field officer post, and you will have to execute warrants, pursue rogue traders, and support victims. Ideally you will be a self-motivated person willing to undertake further learning leading to a recognised qualification. Some transferrable skills will be essential as well as knowledge of the consumer protection environment. You will have excellent customer service and communication skills, be thorough in your approach and a team player. You will work in partnership with neighbouring North-East London authorities, Police, Fire, Customs, Home Office, and other enforcement teams.  We will provide additional and continued learning to help the successful candidates interpret and enforce a wide range of consumer protection legislation using an intelligence-led approach to inspection, sampling, advice and education and investigation. You will develop the full range of investigation and reporting skills, including appearance at local Magistrates’ and Crown Courts.

A full valid driving licence with use of own vehicle for business use is essential.
