We’re on the lookout for people who enjoy working across different locations to join our seasonal public toilet cleansing team.

It’ll involve walking or driving from site to site keeping our public toilets clean, tidy and well stocked.

This is a 4 days on, 4 days off shift pattern with split morning and afternoon shifts and we are also happy to consider part-time options.

About the role

Brighton & Hove City Council is recruiting 10 seasonal cleansing operatives to clean public toilets throughout spring and summer.

The job involves:

  • Cleaning sinks and surrounding areas including walls and mirrors
  • Cleaning toilet pans and seats
  • Removing graffiti
  • Sweeping and washing the floors
  • Emptying bins
  • Removing drug paraphernalia safely
  • Replenishing toilet paper and soap
  • Reporting damaged cleaning equipment
  • Reporting maintenance issues such as broken locks and dispensers
  • Walking or driving between the sites to open, clean and close

You will need to be:

  • able to be on your feet all day
  • self-motivated and able to work on your own as well as part of a team
  • hard-working, reliable and responsible
  • able to interact with members of the public

Fixed term until 30th September 2023

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
