Wandsworth Autism Advisory Service are looking to recruit a full-time Speech and Language Therapist (Maternity Cover) to our service (0.6) and to also work with St George’s trust within the MDA team (0.4). The role is a 9 month fixed term or secondment maternity cover opportunity.

What does the service do?

Our Autism Advisory Service is a multi- professional service providing advice, support and intervention to children and young people with autism, their families and education settings.

You will also work with the St Georges NHS Trust team. This will involve gathering information and working with children and young people to inform a diagnosis of Autism

What will your role be?

To work collaboratively within a multi-agency Advisory team under the direction of the Head of Service to provide support to education settings to best meet the needs of children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social Communication Disorder (SCD).

To deliver high quality training to professionals and families.  To deliver programmes of intervention and group work/support for children at home and in school/ EY setting. To oversee and provide advice and support to multi therapy assistants.

To be shortlisted your CV and personal statement will demonstrate:

  • Have membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy
  • Registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Either a BSC in Speech and Language Therapy or a Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip)/ MSC in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Experience of working with children and young people with a range of Speech, Language and Communication Needs and particularly those with a diagnosis of ASD or social communication difference.
