This role sits at the centre of our approach to delivering this vision as a key member of the Digital  team leading on the programme delivery of our Newham Sparks programme. It will support our community into the jobs of the future whilst at the same time unlocking the value of data and digital in everything we do as a Council; from keeping our streets clean and promoting sustainable transport to improving the air we breathe.

About the role 

This role will lead on the programme delivery of the Newham Sparks programme, managing activity across key working groups. The role will work with the Strategic SME and Advisor to the Mayor, alongside the programme board, to design the programme and proactively monitor its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action as required. The role will co-ordinate internal capability and external partnerships for the council to deliver effective change and accelerate the ambitions of the Newham Sparks strategy. This will include working with partners in Newham – including our schools, FE sector and universities and bringing them together with businesses large and small to build a network and movement that will promote Newham as the place for the data economy, while ensuring Newham residents have the skills and opportunities to get into the industry. You will also work closely with the regeneration and property team to bring forward ambitious proposals for the delivery of a Data Campus at East Ham town hall. 

About you

You will be ambitious for the people Newham and proud to work with and to represent its diverse communities with energy, commitment and creativity. An experienced professional with strong programme and stakeholder management skills, you will be able to mobilise the programme team, lead on the design, planning and delivery of the programme and lead on the oversight of programme reporting and governance. You will have experience leading large-scale programmes that involve multiple stakeholders and partners to deliver its objectives. Experience in delivering programmes focused around digital inclusion, education and skills development, economic development or digital smart cities initiatives will be beneficial. Whilst you may not have worked in the data/digital sectors directly, you will need to demonstrate an interest and appetite to learn about how these sectors are shaping the future of work and how we can ensure Newham residents are set up to benefit from these changes.
