The role
Working in the Permanence Team you will be part of an experienced group of social workers responsible for completing viability and special guardianship assessments for care proceedings and PLO cases, supporting kinship Regulation 24 and Approve Kinship Foster placements, long-term fostering family finding and matching as well as Special Guardianship Support. Family & Friends Assessing social worker’s offer assessment and support service to family and friends carers, who provide alternative homes for children who are not able to remain in the care of their birth parents.
In this role you will have the opportunity to work with professionals of every discipline. With a remit spanning the assessment and support of connected persons, you’re guaranteed different challenges every day. The role demands close collaboration and good working relationships across the integrated Care Provisions Service as well as CLA and CIN services to deliver a collaborative approach to child care planning.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.
About you
The successful candidate will have demonstrable previous experience working with Foster Carers or Kinship Carers in a community setting. The ideal candidate will have at least two year’s post-qualification Social Work experience and must hold current SWE registration. Given the level of skills and experience required for this role, we are unable to accept applications from Social Workers who are newly qualified and have not completed their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment.
You will have gained a wealth of knowledge of undertaking assessments of individual needs and/or risk of designing and implementing care/protection plans, monitoring and reviewing such plans over a period of time and preparing for and giving evidence in care proceedings. You will be able to establish positive and effective working relationships with children, young people and families to ascertain their wishes and engage them in decision making processes to make a real difference to the lives of families within the London Borough of Camden.
