Job introduction

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Finance Officer role within Brighton and Hove City Council’s financial accounting team.

The role will focus on delivering the annual statement of accounts and supporting the external audit;

The role will be part of a small and effective team that is supportive friendly and professional, working flexibly together to deliver excellent financial services.  

We are operating in an environment of increasing financial complexity and expanding demands for financial advice and support. The team are based in Bartholomew’s House in Brighton but are currently working from home for part of the week.

About the role

What skills do you have?

The successful candidate will have:

  • Existing expertise as a finance professional with strong technical, communication and organisational skills critical to delivering the financial accounting function.
  • A positive proactive approach with the ability to work on your own initiative and as a team player.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills and competency in using Microsoft Office and other financial systems.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate financial matters to a non-financial audience.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
