Redbridge Council is stepping into a new era boldly. Our Corporate Plan is focused on delivering social transformation in terms of eradicating child poverty in the borough and organisational change as we implement a new model of service delivery through our five community hubs. This will require close and accurate monitoring of our progress, intelligent and actionable insights and a programmatic approach to delivering that change. In order to achieve this we have established the Intelligence, Insights and Change team within the Strategy Directorate.

We are seeking an outstanding candidate who will work closely with our Director team to generate insights and deliver the ambitions in our Corporate Plan.

You will lead a unit comprising specialist technical staff and support staff. We are particularly keen to appoint someone who will bring strategic thinking to this role, develop strong relationships across the organisation and expand the learning and value of this function. You must be a strong team player both within this team and with other parts of the organisation. You will be an excellent leader – leading your individual unit and also from time-to-time matrix teams. Your style is less important than your effectiveness.

Redbridge Council is keen to expand its intelligence and insights capacity and develop its focus with a view to it adding value to everything we do. You will need to have an excellent understand of how data insights can be used to transform services and manage demand. You will need to be a leader, taking insights and research learning to the organisation developing relationships such that services turn to you early when undertaking their own reviews or developing new strategies.

You will need to be able to work with services, understand their needs and explain complex insights clearly regarding how data can help them deliver better.

You will be curious and driven to understand the underlying causes of issues the Council is seeking to address. They will impart and develop that curiosity amongst their team enabling the team as a whole to develop innovative means to address key issues.

Key to this role will be the ability to develop the systems, protocols and inter-departmental working arrangements required to develop effective insights using data analysis across the Council.

You will have a team of 8-10 staff including the corporate GIS officer and the lead on insights for Public Health. You are also encouraged to engage an apprentice.

This role will be reporting to the Head of Intelligence, Insights and Change.

For a discussion regarding any of these roles please contact the Operational Director, Policy, Programmes and Change, Mehboob Khan, Mehboob.khan@redbridge.gov.uk or Randal Smith, Randal.smith@redbridge.gov.uk
