About Us:

Tackling rough sleeping through the management of early interventions

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. The Housing Solutions service is on a journey to develop and improve outcomes for residents that have housing needs, both here and in the adjoining boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham and Westminster. Our focus is on early intervention and prevention, often working directly the community. Ultimately, we aim to create systemic change that puts an end to rough sleeping.

The Role:

Heading up a team of social workers, outreach workers and support workers, you will develop innovative approaches to problems in the boroughs’ street population. This will include engaging with people who have complex mental health needs, often combined with substance misuse and antisocial behaviours. Managing many different strands of activity while ensuring high performance will be key to your success. We’ll look to you to access resources, commission services and work in close partnership with a number of agencies including the Police, health services, the Home Office, the voluntary sector and local residents. You and your team will build practical and sustainable pathways from rough sleeping into full reintegration in the wider community.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

Experience of managing a frontline service in the field of housing and homelessness is essential, and you will need comprehensive knowledge of the issues faced by homeless people and the services available to them. Exceptional relationship management skills will be key to your success: you’ll be sensitive to the diverse agendas of different agencies while being able to make them work as a whole. The ability to influence, mediate and negotiate is therefore vital.  Committed to meeting targets by finding and implementing effective solutions, you’ll also be capable of building trust within the local community and with those who are sleeping rough or vulnerably housed.

Join us, and you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

We reserve the right to extend or close this vacancy early without warning subject to the volume of suitable applicants.
