An opportunity has arisen for a Lead HR Consultant in our HR Advisory Team supporting Cityclean and Cityparks.

About the role

What is this role?

This role has specific focus on providing professional HR advice to management at Cityclean and Cityparks, Brighton.  

Cityclean is part of Brighton & Hove City Council, and is the service which provides recycling, refuse and street cleansing throughout the City.  Cityparks ensures the maintenance, look and accessibilty of open spaces across the City.   These areas are very visible to residents, commuters, businesses and tourists alike and have a big impact on the reputation and desirability of Brighton & Hove as a place to live, work, visit and enjoy.

As part of a current Cultural Change there is a requirement for an additional resource to provide solution focused HR advice to management at all levels including Head of Service.

Both Cityclean and Cityparks are busy areas and management have a number of pressures and competing priorities which need to be met to ensure quality service delivery.   The postholder needs to show significant resilience, perseverance and excellent communication skills.  They will need to be confident in their ability to advise and support others as well as having an excellent level of knowledge and skill in dealing with employee relations case work.

The workforce has a high degree of unionisation and the post holder will need to recognise and appreciate different perspectives in the employment relationship and demonstrate an ability to operate with sensitivity and professionalism when providing advice.  Key to this role will be the ability to build and maintain strong and productive relationships.

The role is based at Hollingdean Depot, Upper Hollingdean Road, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 &GA and the postholder will be expected to be on site to provide face to face support.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 per week or term time only.
