We are seeking to recruit permanent Contracts and Procurement Lawyers to join our team at HB Public Law (HBPL).  You will undertake varied, high-quality work with likeminded and supportive colleagues who are committed to public service and excellent client care.

HB Public Law is one of the country’s leading shared local authority legal practices between a number of Northwest London and out of London boroughs; it is Lexcel accredited, and we pride ourselves on delivering a high-quality service.  Staff are employed by Harrow Council, but work for a number of public sector clients. 

About you:

The successful candidate will carry a full caseload and will: 

  • provide advice and manage contract and procurement legal cases.
  • draft and negotiate commercial contracts including construction contracts and service contracts and advise on contract disputes.
  • support corporate projects working in multi-disciplinary teams and advise on governance issues
  • advise senior officers and councillors
  • advise on public procurement in the context of the Public Contracts Regulations

You will be required to pick up a caseload from the outset and successful candidates must have experience in conducting commercial contract work.

The vacancy is a career graded post encompassing grades G10, G11 and MG1 (£39,171 to £54,507).  Details of the threshold criteria for the relevant grades are set out in the role profile.  There is also an annual career grading application process to allow lawyers to apply to advance to the next grade.
