The Role:

Joining our highly dedicated, supportive team, you will gain the key skills needed to build a successful legal career. This is a great opportunity for a newly qualified lawyer to develop a solid foundation in both law and local government while you play a part in shaping how we deliver vital services.

As a solicitor in the Contracts and Procurement Team, you will give sound legal advice to council departments on all matters relating to your field. You will also carry out routine legal casework, draft reports, assist our senior solicitors and attend external meetings as one of our representatives. 

You will contribute to the Service’s continuous improvement through implementing efficient office systems, and procedures and identifying training and innovation opportunities.

About You:

You will be a qualified solicitor, barrister or fellow of CILEx entitled to practice in England and Wales. You will have some experience advising on contracts and procurement matters and combine this with a broad knowledge of local government law, good communication skills, influencing skills and IT literacy.
