About the role:
You will be leading a team of fifty staff to deliver a first-rate Revenues service. Using the latest technology in self-service and automation: quick, efficient processes; and a knowledgeable and motivated team, you will be able to deliver class-leading collections. You will lead the service for Haringey Council, surprising and delighting residents. You will run the council Tax and Business rates services service in accordance with legislation, policies and procedures focussing on sympathetic debt policies, income maximisation, vulnerability policy and practice, customer experience and performance improvement. Additionally, you will have an expert knowledge of all areas of Council Tax, Business Rates, and associated good practice: collection fund management, arrears reduction, income base growth and income improvement.
This role requires financial awareness to manage budgets and your responsibilities include leading and managing the annual billing of over 108,000 Council Tax and 7,000 Business Rates Premises, agreeing and collecting the targets set by the section 151 Officer to ensure anticipated revenue for the Council from both council tax and business rates services is delivered.
Reporting directly to the Head of Service your focus will be on delivering an excellent customer experience and high levels of performance as well as key strategic accountabilities.
About You:
You will have existing management experience and proven track record within a Revenues service to complement your IRRV qualifications. Along with the experience in communicating clearly, confidently, and empathetically across a wide range of groups and senior officers to deliver the council’s priorities and commitments,
You will have excellent knowledge of Revenues policy, technology, and processes with the ability to build engagement with colleagues across the service for a cohesive and strategic approach to meet targets. In addition, you will be strategic in your approach to operations and develop, implement an efficient and effective team, process, and systems, and a high level of customer service.
The successful candidate will need to have strong analytic skills, a keen eye for detail (particularly in statutory legislation, Council policies/procedures and changes to it), use their initiative to resolve issues in a professional manner as well as experience and knowledge on promoting a collaborative working culture.
