Learning Support Assistant

Hours: 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (8.30am to 3.30pm)

Grade: Grade 1/2 point 1 - 5

Pro Rata Salary: £16,429 p.a. - £17,471 p.a. (FTE £21,228 p.a. - £22,575 p.a.)

Contract: Fixed term until July 2023

We are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant who has experience working with children with a range of special educational needs. The role is predominantly working as a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant but some group work may be required.  

The role involves supporting a child in Year 6 who has physical, sensory and developmental needs. Experience of manual handling and working with children with cerebral palsy is required, although training will be provided if necessary.

Whilst you will be expected to work under the direction of the class teacher you will also have the ability to use your own initiative to organise tasks and activities; creating simple resources to support the pupil’s work as appropriate. You will work closely with the class teacher and the School’s SENCO as well as working in partnership with external contacts to support learning and development.

We are looking for a person who is calm, kind, patient and who:

  • is cheerful, positive and enthusiastic about working with children
  • is experienced in supporting pupils with learning difficulties
  • Be comfortable with intimate personal care, i.e. nappy changing
  • Have a proven track record of successfully supporting children with special educational needs
  • is committed to working as part of a team
