Young Women's Gang Exit Worker
Young Women’s Gang Exit Worker
Family Intervention Team (up to March 2025)
Fixed Term up to March 2025 – Full Time
We are seeking a sensitive, enthusiastic and hard-working team player and active listener to join the Exploited Children’s Team as a Young Women’s Gang Exit Worker.
This is a new, Home Office-funded Family Support Worker Role assisting the Family Intervention Team, Alternative Provision and the Looked After Children services in providing specialised support to gang-affected young women and girls. You will need to be motivated, committed, patient, empathetic, an excellent communicator, and willing to work with various partner agencies as well as young women and girls and their families from diverse backgrounds.
The post-holder will work with a small case load of gang-affected young women and girls identified by FIT and LAC through 1-2-1 support/advocacy, intensive support, light-touch signposting, and targeted group work. The role involves working with Alternative Provision colleagues to raise awareness of gang exploitation amongst young women and girls, training professionals on signs of gang exploitation, and supporting female victims of gang-related sexual assault, including through working with Independent Sexual Violence Advisors where necessary. You will be expected to provide a range of support to young women and girls who are at risk or already exposed to gang exploitation. You will need to have some understanding of how gang-related harm affects vulnerable young women and girls and be able to work with complex cases. Our aim is to establish positive relationships with these young women and use diversion and education to encourage them away from gang affiliation.
Please note that this is a fixed-term contract that lasts until March 2025.
