Electoral Services Manager (Operations)
Job introduction
This is an exciting opportunity to join Brighton & Hove’s Electoral Services management team as we expand our friendly, dynamic and innovative team.
As we prepare to implement extensive changes from the Elections Act and deliver our local elections in May 2023, you will lead on the delivery of day-to-day operations, development of new processes and our data matching functions – ensuring our approach is effective, efficient and puts our electors at the heart of everything we do.

Here at Brighton & Hove’s Electoral Services team we strive to provide a first-class service to our electorate. We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and well organised team player to join our modern team in delivering a professional service to the public.
Working collaboratively with the other Electoral Services Manager (Operations) and the Head of Electoral Services & Local Land Charges, you will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational, project management and problem-solving skills. Working to tight legislative timetables, you will be confident leading the delivery of election staffing and equipping polling stations, rolling registration, the annual canvass and, adept at anticipating workload peaks and managing processes to mitigate these.
With significant working knowledge of the elections sector - you should be experienced at supervising a team, have excellent IT and data matching skills, and be confident at interpreting legislation and communicating this to colleagues, politicians and the public.
The service operates a hybrid working model with officers dividing their week between home and our modern open plan offices in Hove. During busy periods, such as during elections, you will be expected to work predominantly from the office and undertake additional hours. This will include evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Annual leave may be restricted during busy periods.

Additional information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
