ABOUT US

The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east.  It is well connected  by public transport with, bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. It has a thriving arts quarter with the both the Theatre Royal Stratford East and Stratford Circus Arts Centre offering excellent entertainment for all the family. There is the University of East London which has two campuses in Newham, one in Stratford and another next to the regenerated Royal Albert Dock. It also has a large Westfield shopping Centre in Stratford which has all the major retailers there.

We have an exciting opportunity for a leader to join our ambitious and motivated service area, to create and lead a new dynamic team, to develop and embed local policies and procedures, and be responsible for the compliance and quality of care and support services delivered to adults. 

This is a key leadership role within Adult Social Care and an opportunity to shape a high performing team that fosters a supportive culture of continuous improvement. You will be responsible for providing assurance to the directorate that we are compliant with legislation, relevant policies and procedures and best practice. You will be responsible for working in accordance with agreed frameworks to mitigate risks and optimise resident’s safety, wellbeing and quality of life.

There is a need to ensure services are commercially sustainable as Social Care Reforms are set to be implemented next year.  There will also be an opportunity to lead on implementing and operationalising the Social Care Assurance reforms.

We are looking for an individual who is very experienced in public sector quality assurance and contract monitoring, someone who places personalisation at the heart of care and support and has energy and enthusiasm to drive quality improvements. 

London Borough of Newham supports flexible working. There will be a requirement to attend Newham Dockside 1 – 2 days per week with the option of home working for the remainder of the week.
