The Roles:
The Planning Policy and Digital Innovation Team at Southwark Council are looking for a team leader who is passionate about affordable housing and affordable business space delivery. This role is an opportunity for someone to lead on finding ways to increase housing and workspace delivery and particularly affordable housing and workspace delivery through policy and working with the Council and developer regeneration teams to find solutions and new ways of building the most carbon efficient developments. This role includes writing policy, Examination, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating.
The Planning Policy and Digital Innovation Team at Southwark Council are looking for two experts who are passionate about the climate emergency to prepare policy, contribute to applications and comment on funding bids, along with monitoring the climate emergency information about development. You need to be an expert in this area. The team are preparing supplementary planning documents and are refreshing the local plan policies to set out more ambitious targets for development.
About You:
The housing and business team leader will have a team of planners, graduates and apprentices to supervise who are all very enthusiastic about improving Southwark as a place for our residents and businesses. You will need to report to senior officers and members, and you will need to liaise with the GLA and Central Government responding to new initiatives and policy, and finding ways to enable them to work effectively at Southwark.
The Climate Emergency specialists will be part of a team of planners, graduates and apprentices who are very enthusiastic about providing policy and contribute to planning and development to push the boundaries on meeting the Climate Emergency declaration of net zero by 2030.
The Planning Policy and Digital Innovation Team is part of the Policy, Building Control and the Historic Environment team. This team provides specialist advice on planning applications, prepares policy and strategy to guide development and monitors change and improvements. This team is part of the Planning and Growth Division which leads on sustainable change and growth in Southwark.
