Teaching Assistant (Level B)
Job introduction
Paid weeks per year: 47.15 (inclusive of holiday entitlement)
Start date: November 2022
The SEND department at Hove Park School is looking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join our SEND team and contribute to the development of our Cullum Centre (Resourced Provision for students with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition) and SEMH Team.
About the role
As an experienced Teaching Assistant in this area, you will possess a commitment for inclusion, a passion for overcoming barriers to learning and a belief that through working with children and young people we can maximise their potential to lead happy, healthy and fulfilled lives. You will show initiative, good communication skills and an aptitude for supporting students with ASC.
We operate a system of key workers, where a member of the team has a small group of students for whom they are the main SEND point of contact and we try to get to know the whole student and establish a positive, productive working relationship. Staff will lead and attend PEP meetings for students and liaise closely with teachers regarding support strategies.
The successful candidate will understand that ASC is a spectrum, meaning that the needs of individuals are also on a spectrum and will not be identical. Also desirable will be relevant experience in supporting students with a range of needs including: Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH), Speech and Language needs, SpLD (Dyslexia/Dyspraxia) and English as an Additional Language (EAL).
