Job Title: Occupational Therapist - Adult Services

Job Number: HCAA01043

Grade: PO3

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist  who is looking to take the next step in their career to join the Hackney Occupational Therapy and Sensory Service.

Hackney is one of London's most diverse and dynamic boroughs. Stretching from the edge of the City to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, it is an area of rapid economic and population growth. Hackney has a rich history as a vibrant mix of different communities being the sixth most diverse borough in London. Hackney has more green space than any other inner London borough, and first class transport connections, combined with excellent local public services and is fast becoming London's most popular area to live, work and visit. The challenge for Hackney is to make sure that the borough's economic growth provides benefits for everyone who lives here, and to create opportunities that will transform the lives of local people.

We know that staff are key to our success and we are seeking people with ambition, creativity and commitment to our values to help us achieve the best for the people of Hackney.

The Occupational Therapy Service supports Hackney residents to live as safely and independently in the community. At Hackney, we are committed to integrated working across health and social care and we go that extra mile for our residents and our workforce, seeking to achieve the very best outcomes for our residents supporting them to achieve their full potential and fulfil their aspirations. By participating in the neighbourhood programme, we are committed to an ethos of co-production to achieve Hackney’s vision for all our residents, whatever their background, to maximise their independence and live safely in their homes.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will work in the community with adults and their support network. You will be required to carry out assessments with a strengths-based approach to identify needs and make recommendations for a range of outcomes. These could include specialist advice and information, referrals to community navigation services, keeping people safe, planning for moving and handling support, equipment provision and recommending adaptations.

We offer a working environment which is stimulating, fast moving and supportive. With a strong emphasis on reflective practice, regular supervision, training and CPD opportunities, you will have opportunities to use and develop your skills in a vibrant learning organisation. The post offers the opportunity for you to supervise junior staff and students. You will have a commitment to your own ongoing Continual Professional Development.

We are passionate about diversity and want our workforce to reflect our community and encourage all those who possess the essential criteria to apply to work for Hackney.

If you are an HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with excellent assessment, analytical and reflective skills, dedicated to improving practice then we want to hear from you. Community experience is desirable, but should not be seen as a barrier to applying. If you share our values and are ready to be part of our exciting journey please apply.

For more information, please call Andrea Bray on 0208 356 3706

The recruitment process is anonymous. Therefore, we do not accept supporting statements or CVs.

When applying, there will be a number of questions relating to the post on the application form. It is essential that you complete the application questions, responding to each using examples of your skills, knowledge and experience.

Interview date: TBC

We are also working towards our vision, which is to be a place for everyone; where residents and staff can be proud; a place that celebrates diversity and where everyone can feel valued, included and involved. In order to achieve this, we look for people who are: Proud; Ambitious; Pioneering; Open; Proactive; Inclusive.

Hackney Council works to eradicate discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy and maternity, age and marital status.
