The Role:
As a Community Engagement Coordinator, you’ll do vital work to safeguard and uplift young people across Kensington and Chelsea. Helping young people get work ready, grow their confidence and resilience, improve their skill sets, and stay in education or employment is meaningful, rewarding, trust-first work that has the potential to truly shape lives. In this role, you’ll develop and provide community-based programmes and interventions for young people who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET). You’ll lead or co-lead the delivery of home visits and services across the borough that identify and support NEET or at risk of NEET young people, working effectively with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders both internal and external to the Council. As the designated lead for developing, delivering, and overseeing open access and targeted community and evidence-based interventions, you’ll be a visible presence within the community you serve. You’ll work towards better outcomes for young people affected by the pandemic, committed to changing lives and putting the people of Kensington and Chelsea first at every turn.

About You:
With knowledge of the key components of effective careers, information, advice, and guidance, you’ll have experience of advising/ working across educational settings to identify risk of NEET and arrangements to prevent NEET. You’ll have the expertise to support young people to access education, training, and employment opportunities, and significant experience of undertaking home visits and delivering face-to-face, 1:1, group work and interventions to young people in community settings. Able to work with young people who present challenging behaviour, you’ll work with sensitivity to understand the impact of trauma and it’s related behavioural responses. You’ll be a true team player comfortable communicating with a diverse range of colleagues, young people, and stakeholders across all levels of the council and beyond.

You’ll have the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision, have line management experience and will lead with empathy and compassion always.
