About Us:

Play a key role in delivering net zero for a high-profile London borough

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we are focused on putting our residents and local businesses at the heart of every decision. From the policy decisions that we're making through to the services that we’re delivering, it’s vital that we put the needs of our community first. We want to give everyone a great quality of life, with access to a comfortable home, sustainable and desirable employment options, and the chance to live and work in a healthy and safe environment; and our Financial Management Services play a vital part in achieving these goals.

The Role:

You’ll play a leading role in developing our crucial net zero Funding and Investment Strategy. This includes carrying out economic modelling as well as identifying funding opportunities and other types of income. You’ll have to chance to not only shape the role and the way we work, but innovate across a key central London environmental initiative.

The role is also highly varied and challenging. Working with our Climate Change Team, you’ll make sure carbon neutral targets are embedded across council planning. You’ll also align the Funding and Investment Strategy to our wider strategy and provide economic advice to our senior leadership and other departments to help us meet our environmental commitments.

What’s more, you’ll coordinate sustainability finances across the entire council, and consistently build partnerships to support the delivery of our climate emergency response.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information

About You:

You might have some experience in the financial sector, but you don’t necessarily need direct experience in green markets or as an accountant. What matters more are strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to establish strong working relationships with all kinds of people.

You’ll have solid experience managing complex financial issues, writing successful funding applications and managing significant budgets. You’ll also have excellent analytical skills, IT literacy and stakeholder management skills. Being aware of local government financial and commercial issues is important.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent learning and development opportunities.
