The role
The role of Family Support worker delivers a high quality of family support to these families through assessment, early intervention, referral and signposting. Within the role you will refer and work with children in need of safeguarding and their families according to policy and procedure to ensure that all agencies are working together to improve outcomes for the most vulnerable children.
A large part of this role will be to work in a secure building facilitating contact, managing the transfer of children to and from the building and the interaction with families where there are identified risks and complex dynamics to manage, posing some risk.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.
About you
We are looking for someone who has great interpersonal skills and able to communicate on all levels and build good relationships, including children/young people and their families. You will be able to manage difficult situations, minimising conflict in order to alleviate tension and provide a calm environment for contact.
You will be able to objectively observe contact and monitor closely interactions, assessing parenting and the quality of care during contact. You will be able to follow up with an in-depth written report, ensuring it is clear and concise.
