One source is a fully integrated shared legal service providing legal advice to Newham and Havering; two busy, innovative and progressive Councils. It also provides legal advice to a range of external public sector organisations such as schools, colleges and other Local Authorities.
The service is Lexcel accredited and has high standards in the quality of the advice given to clients and in the professionalism of its staff.
We are now looking to recruit a Legal Practice Officer to join our busy team of legal support staff.
About the Job
The Legal Practice Officer role will join our team of 13 legal administrative staff supporting a team of 80 fee earners and ensuring the smooth running of the day to day operational business issues. Reporting to a Senior Practice Officer the successful candidate in the role will support them and the Head of Legal Business Operations across the Legal and Governance Department providing support on such things as recruitment, training and induction, assisting in the production of performance and management information, and working on service projects to make service efficiencies and improve processes especially around IT systems.
Our service operates a hybrid working model with some working from home and time spent in the office. You may, on occasion need to attend both Newham and Havering’s offices as part of your duties but on a day to day basis our main location is at. Newham’s Dockside offices situated near to London City Airport and right next to the Docklands Light Railway.

About You
The successful candidates will be able to work across a range of administrative areas, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, an aptitude and liking for IT along with a logical approach to problem solving and attention to detail. Previous experience providing support within a professional environment would be advantageous. The ideal people will be self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision and to meet deadlines.
