Are you an ambitious communicator looking to develop your career at an organisation playing a vital role in our democracy?

We are seeking a Senior Communications Officer to join our Campaigns and Corporate Identity team.

Who we are

The Electoral Commission is the independent body which oversees elections and regulates political finance in the UK. We work to promote public confidence in the democratic process and ensure its integrity.

The successful candidate will join the team at an exciting time as we begin delivering our new five-year Corporate Plan.

The Campaigns and Corporate Identity team is responsible for delivering major public awareness campaigns to ensure that as many people as possible are able to take part in the democratic process. We also lead on the organisation’s internal communications and manage the use of its corporate identity on things like publications and branded materials.

Who we’re looking for

You’ll need to be proactive and enthusiastic, able to drive work within your brief and to juggle conflicting requirements of different stakeholders to deliver outcomes that meet our objectives. This is exciting and fast paced work which is vital in supporting our democracy and public awareness of elections.

You’ll need to be self-motivated in order to take ownership of your work, and you will be a helpful colleague - supporting the work of others and contributing to work across the organisation. You will be able to develop new skills and apply for training opportunities as well as get involved in things that interest you in the wider Commission.

What you’ll be doing

Some of your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage the delivery of key workstreams with our voter registration campaigns, including mass advertising briefs and budgets;
  • Own key external relationships with advertising and production agencies and other partner organisations;
  • To lead on, and support, internal communications activity
  • Support the wider team’s work in delivering strategic corporate objectives
  • Representing the team in various organisation-wide environments

What we offer

We offer excellent terms and conditions, including flexible working hours and the opportunity to join the Civil Service pension (dependent on scheme rules).

How to apply

You can apply for this role on our website with a supporting statement outlining how your experience and skills meet the essential criteria in the job description.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 19 July 2022 at 23:59PM, and interviews will take place in the week starting 1 August 2022.
