Here in Newham, we take building safety very seriously. Because people are at the heart of everything we do, the safety of the places they live, work, and socialise are of the utmost importance. As we come through the pandemic, Newham Council is putting together a brand-new team to address building safety and housing across our borough and instil innovative ideas across our approach.
It’s essential that we get it right. The work we need to do is varied and far-ranging. We have more than 80 high-rise blocks and a large number of low-rise buildings too in the borough. So the portfolio offers unique challenges and opportunities. As a member of this new team you will shape our response and be a driving force in the housing sector as a whole.
Housing means homes, and we want people to feel safe in theirs. Everything we do is focused on achieving this, and we are recruiting for motivated, empathetic people willing to take up this challenge in one of the country’s most diverse, vibrant, and growing boroughs.

Surveyor - Fire Safety
Building Safety Project Manager
Fire Safety Project Coordinator
Fire Safety Advisor
