ABOUT US
Newham Together – The best place for children and young people (click here to view our recruitment video)
There has never been a more exciting time to practice, develop, and grow as a Senior Social Worker at Newham.
You may have heard that Newham is on a journey to Good in which we are making ground; Ofsted recently recognised the “sustained and steady” progress we are making following our recent monitoring visit, the findings of which you can read in full here.
Embedding new, permanent Senior Social Workers into our Leaving Care service is key to our ambition of becoming a centre of excellence in Children’s Social Care by 2023; Senior Social Workers are both our present frontline experts and our leaders of the future. Senior Social Workers can now look to a Social Care Academy, an expanded QA service, and a team of Family Therapists to support their practice and enrich their learning. Senior Social Workers can also expect significant support to help them achieve personal career goals. These changes are a small part of the positive impact that our permanent, stable senior leadership team are making. Newham is moving in the right direction.
We are continuing to look at innovative ways of working and how we can offer maximum flexibility to our social workers; remote working wherever possible is now a reality at Newham. We know that social workers are most effective when they’re happy, healthy and able to work flexibly, so we’ve implemented wellbeing initiatives and invested in new roles and have redesigned services to reduce caseloads and give back something invaluable to our social workers – their time.
Joining Newham as we continue with our improvement journey will be an invaluable experience and look great on any Senior Social Worker’s CV.
Apply now, and be part of our success.
ABOUT THE JOB
Senior Social Workers (SSWs) in Leaving Care have a vital role delivering high quality social work interventions and support to best serve our care leavers. SSWs will hold the most complex cases whilst supporting a team of Personal Advisors. SSWs Under direction from a Team Manager. SSWs will provide vital, holistic, restorative support to care leavers – this could be to do with employment, finance, housing or signposting to services that will help care leavers overcome their personal challenges. We want our care leavers to live independent, happy, fulfilled lives; and SSWs day to day work will be focused on this.
Senior Social Workers at Newham are expected to support less experienced colleagues by sharing their knowledge and providing insight into what makes our practice great. SSWs will deliver and supervise social work interventions and key decisions that impact care leavers directly in addition to the performance of the service.
