Job introduction

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Early years practitioner/ Nursery Assistant with a minimum level 2 qualification to join our nursery team in our 2-4 year old room.

The role is full time 37 hours, shifts are between Monday-Friday 7.45am – 6pm, usually 4 days per week.

About the role

This job is for an Early Years Practitioner in our Dolphin room (2-5 year olds). This role will be working alongside a team of staff to ensure we provide engaging learning experiences in a safe and caring environment, supported by a Room leader and Deputy room leader

 We are looking for someone who can demonstrate excellent practice, supports a positive approach to behaviour and emotional literacy, has a good EYFS knowledge and understanding of young children’s needs.

The job involves being a key person, building positive relationships, being a positive role model and ensuring the children feel safe and nurtured, engaging in children’s play, inputting ideas for planning, assessment, and maintaining high standards of early learning.

The Nursery:

Cherry Tree Nursery is one of Brighton and Hove City Council Children’s Centre Nurseries. We operate five nurseries across the city and provide a high-quality service for children aged from 3 months to 5 years. We are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.

Cherry Tree Nursery is located in Hollingdean, close to Ditching Road and Lewes Road. We have been purpose built to meet the needs of young children and their families. The nursery is an open plan design, it has two playrooms and a large garden.

The nursery provides children with lots of space to play and learn, use their imaginations and be creative. We have a large garden space where children can climb a climbing frame, enjoy sand and mud play, water tables and walls, ride bikes, climb the tree and explore nature. We have a play-based approach to learning in a fun, happy and calm atmosphere.

Applicants must have experience of working with young children 3 month -5 years in an early year’s environment; experience of delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS); experience of meeting the individual needs of young children and their families; demonstrate a passion and commitment for providing high quality care and learning opportunities.

We require applicants to be qualified to a minimum Level 3 in early years and childcare or equivalent.

 We provide ongoing support in the form of regular supervisions and appraisals. Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
