Peabody supports runs many projects in Lambeth supporting people with Mental Health issues. The customers we work with all have a significant and enduring mental health diagnosis. Our customers can exhibit behaviours which are challenging. This is often due to past trauma. Customers may have a forensic/ offending history. Some customers will have a dual diagnosis – enduring mental health problems alongside drug and alcohol use.

Some of these projects are for people who require a high level of support whilst other support people who need less support. Some services only provide visiting support to customers. One of our services is a specialist service for people who have enduring mental health issues and require support around drug and alcohol use. We have full time and part times roles available. Some services staff members are required to work evenings and weekends as part of a rota whereas some services only work Monday to Friday. In all of our Lambeth services shifts are 7.5 hours a day.

As a Support Worker in a Mental Health service, you will work with the rest of the team in supporting our customers to achieve their recovery goals and step down or move on from the services. You will be allocated a caseload to keywork, you will also be expected to complete admin tasks such as updating the internal systems with notes, completing risk/need assessments, and supporting customers to attend meetings. You may be required to supervise medication and have face to face contact with customers daily.

You will need to communicate with external services and internal teams, follow up on actions, complete incident reports, raise safeguarding cases as required and support customers with Daily Living tasks and tenancy management.

You will also be responsible for monitoring Health & Safety, repairs and tasks related to assessing new referrals to the service. You will also need to have the confidence once inducted to lone work.

You will need to have a good understanding of mental health, trauma informed care and dual diagnosis, either through work or life experience. Most importantly you need to be committed and demonstrate the values and understand how rewarding it can be to work with this sometimes-challenging client group.

Peabody are supportive of all our staff working in Mental health services providing thorough induction, supervision and reflective practice sessions to support you to do your job. We have a generous benefits scheme open to all employees as well as recognising good work through spot bonus’s and reward points systems. If you have great values and a genuine wish to support people on their recovery journey then come and join us.

At Peabody, where possible, we provide flexible working opportunities from day one to our employees, as we recognise the importance of a good work-life balance; and to improve our productivity and performance, we embrace agile working, which means if you are in a desk based role, that will be a hybrid of office and home working. If your role is in a client facing environment, appropriate base location will apply.

Our mission is to help people make the most of their lives and an important part of this is to ensure that our organisation reflects the wider communities we serve. We want to attract recruit and retain a diverse, inclusive and creative workforce to give us the best opportunity to meet the diverse needs of our residents and customers.
